Active911 is working to improve mapping results
If an address contains errors or omissions, Active911’s new geocoding will substantially improve the accuracy of the mapped address.
First responders are becoming increasingly reliant on mapping services for navigation to unfamiliar addresses. Address information can be mislabeled, mistyped, or omitted, which can delay response due to inaccurate coordinates and directions to a scene. How often have you followed navigation directions only to arrive at the incorrect spot?
We ran a set of surveys in Q3, 2020 where an overwhelming majority of our users told us mapping satisfaction would improve with much better addressing and directions. We set out to tackle the problem last quarter, and we now have a way for you to validate and verify our new provider will work better for your department. ActiveAlert solved these problems by finding a top notch provider that delivers better results with less information, and should halve the number of mis-mapped addresses within ActiveAlert, once you have chosen them to use as your source of Active911 mapping. Our new provider is leveraging ESRI, the dominant force in GIS and mapping providers, to interpret and geocode addresses.

This feature will not work as expected If you are an agency in Minnesota using LETG, we are attempting to work with LETG to enable this functionality but have been unsuccessful so far.
log into http://www.active911.com and go to the alerts page.
We built a comparison mode that will allow you to decide if our new service is better for your department or not. In the top right corner, you will see a “Learn more” button.
Clicking on the learn more button will give you an overview of the current mapping comparisons, which will start empty and fill in as you compare results.
Check the “opt in” checkbox and hit save, then begin comparing providers by viewing a specific alert. Within each alert will be a set of maps where you can compare the various providers, scrolling left and right as needed to look at more alerts.
After you have compared some alerts, you will see a comparison between providers above the learn more. To make a switch, enter the learn more modal and pick the service you want to use and hit save.

Q: What if I can’t see the learn more button, but want to try this?
Your agency may be set up to use Wiz, one of our prior solutions to fix addressing. Wiz is still the first priority geocoding and we wanted to keep it that way. If you would prefer to move away from Google as your backup, Reach out to support or give them a call at 541-223-7992.
