In-App Device Migration

We're excited to announce a transition to a user-focused experience, replacing device codes with an email and password login.

Why?

Migrating from devices to user accounts will unify your experience across all Active911 products. This shift enhances security by requiring an email and password, making it easier to identify who is who.


How do devices get migrated?

Devices in your agency have received push notifications instructing users to associate their device code with a user account in just three simple steps:

  1. Click the yellow banner in the app.

  2. Confirm that their email and phone number are correct.

  3. Enter their password.

If they don’t already have a user account, they can create one easily through this process:

What happens after they migrate?

After migrating, they should use their email and password to authenticate in the ActiveAlert app:

What does this mean for administrators?

Going forward, you'll manage alert settings for each user from the Members page, rather than the Devices page.

All devices in your agency have received a push notification prompting them to migrate their device. The website will indicate which users have been successfully migrated. Nothing else is required on your part.

What about vehicles and station devices?

If the device is for the station or a vehicle, that you do not want to migrate, you can mark the device as a vehicle from the Devices modal. Devices marked as vehicles will not be prompted to migrate.

Encouraging Members to Migrate

If you are having a hard time getting your personnel to migrate, you can resend push notifications to individual devices, or push them all at once, from the Devices page:

If a device is already migrated, they won’t receive a push notification.
