In-App Device Migration Instructions
Introduction
Active911 is transitioning from device code-based to member-based authentication to enhance security and streamline access across all Active911 services. This migration requires each user to be associated with an email and password.
If your agency has already migrated and you wish to invite members to your agency, instructions are available here.
How to start migration
As an admin, you can begin the migration process by sending a push notification to your members from the Devices tab on the Active911 Interface. When pushing a notification to a device, if that device is already migrated, it will not receive a notification.
Log in to the Active911 interface by going to Active911.com and clicking Login in the top right corner.
Once at the dashboard, select Devices from the left-hand side of the Interface.
On the Devices screen, click “Push All Devices” or find the devices you wish to migrate and click “Push.”
If pushing to all devices at once, you will receive this pop-up:
If pushing to a specific device, a popup will ask you to confirm that you want to send a push notification to that device.
How to migrate from Device Code to User:
(Optional) Tap the notification stating, “Switch from device code to email login.”
A popup will appear stating “Verify Account Details” & “Switch from device code to login.”
Tap “OK”
Tap the yellow banner in the app
In your browser, you will be asked to fill in your email and phone number
Tap verify
You will now be taken down one of two paths depending on if you have a user account.
If you already have a user account:
You will be asked to enter your password
click “Verify”
You have completed the migration process
If you do not already have a user account:
You will be asked to create a password
Confirm the password you just entered
tap “Create Account”
You will now be at a screen that says, “Verification Link has been sent”
In the email account you entered earlier, open the email from Active911
Tap “Click here to proceed”
You will be returned to your browser and see a screen stating “Account Details Verified.”
After you migrate:
When returning to the app, a banner on the settings page will ask you to log in with your email and password.
Click “Tap here”
Enter the password you entered earlier
Tap “Confirm”
Upon completion, you should see the following pop-up:
