Managing Channel Disconnect notifications for Android

Many of our ActiveComms first responders want to monitor radio channels on their Android devices while doing other tasks or simply relaxing with the phone. Android design limits the ability of apps like ActiveComms to maintain live connections when the app is backgrounded. To solve this issue, we’ve recently made some updates that allow users to set it so that they will get notifications when the channel they are listening to gets disconnected unexpectedly.

This feature is defaulted to off, to enable the feature follow the steps below to turn it on.

  1. Tap the cog icon on the ActiveComms interface.

  1. Tap the Toggle on the “Unexpected Disconnect” as shown in the photo below. If your notifications are set to off, the toggle should be towards the center showing the battalion blue color.

  1. The Icon should now show it in the on position with the Honor Gold color showing and the toggle on the right side of the screen.

Samsung Users - These notifications may not function as intended due to the Samsung device's operating system.
